Sunrise Pictures, LLC is an independently owned and operated production company. Our Private equity resources, intelligent financial structuring and industry relationships, combined with our knowledge of physical production allow the company the freedom to work in all facets of the entertainment industry. Since its inception in 2009, the company has produced award winning and critically acclaimed theatrical features films starring Oscar winning talent. Sunrise Pictures strives to work with the best directors, producers, actors, co-financiers and production companies the industry has to offer by actively developing, acquiring and financing a diverse slate of Television and Feature Film projects. Peter Schafer is the Chief Executive Officer for Sunrise Pictures, an independently owned and operated production company, formerly known as Sunrise Films.  Schafer joined Sunrise Pictures in early 2011 and under his direction the company has taken on a slate of new projects, including the development of director Doug Liman’s upcoming feature, Attica along with the films Liquid Smoke and The Prototype

Additional films financed under Schafer’s direction include the legal drama, The Trials of Cate McCall, currently being sold for domestic distribution and the romantic comedy, There’s Always Woodstock, currently in post-production. In addition to this new film slate, Sunrise Pictures is moving into the television space.   This includes a development deal in the works with eOne Entertainment and a reality television series Schafer will Executive Produce and finance for the Latin Market, which follows the life and career of three time, Grammy Award Nominated, Cuban/Venezuelan/American, singer/songwriter, and actress Maria Conchita Alonso.

Prior to joining Sunrise Pictures, Schafer was the Director of Entertainment at Platinum Rye Entertainment, where he spearheaded marketing and publicity initiatives, negotiating licensing and copyright material for large scale campaigns on behalf of Fortune 500 companies.  During his time at Platinum Rye, Schafer worked with such talent as Britney Spears, Catherine Zeta Jones, Coldplay, Demi Moore, Heidi Klum, Jackie Chan, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson and Justin Timberlake among others.

Schafer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University.


As the Executive in Charge of Production, Joe Dain works alongside Sunrise CEO, Peter Schafer to structure financing, develop, acquire and produce a slate of innovative projects, including, “THE TRIALS OF CATE McCALL” starring Kate Beckinsale, Nick Nolte and James Cromwell, set to premier on Lifetime Television Network in April of 2014; “THERE’S ALWAYS WOODSTOCK” a music infused rom-com set for a late 2014 release, as well as multiple high-end development projects in which Dain has negotiated on behalf of the company and continues to foster the development process with the Sunrise team.

Dain began his producing career in the world of horror films as co-producer of "DELTA, DELTA DIE!" starring scream queen Julie Strain. He soon went on to produce a slate of successful low budget horror films, including hit cult classics; "EVIL BONG", "DEAD MAN'S HAND", "PETRIFIED", "DOLL GRAVEYARD" and "THE GINGERDEAD MAN", which spawned 2 sequels. Dain transitioned his extensive experience working in horror films to form Shoot Productions, a multi-faceted production entity offering various services from development, production, finance, and consultation in Television and Film. The company produced a slate of projects including the Audience Choice Award winner at the International Berlin Film Festival, "GARDENS OF THE NIGHT", the High School Comedy, "FOREIGN EXCHANGE", the psychological thriller, "CIRCLE" and the winner of the International Eugene Film Festival and LA Femme Film Festival, "THE INNER CIRCLE". Independently of Shoot Productions, Dain also produced the action, horror film, "THE DEVIL'S TOMB" for Sony Entertainment and Voltage Pictures, "eCUPID", the multi award winning, gay themed romantic comedy, starring Morgan Fairchild and John Callahan and "GEOGRAPHY CLUB", based on the best selling book, slated for a limited theatrical release November 15th, 2013. Dain has multiple projects in development that he has written and or developed.

 Dain joined Sunrise Pictures in January of 2011.


Jim Klock joined sunrise as a creative Executive in 2009. In his current role Jim heads the creative side of Sunrise and manages the development slate which currently includes the feature films. "Mrs. Kelley, Sheriff", "Anecka", "Strollerville", "Elizabeth Blue is otherwise Engaged", "Untitled Diamond Project", "Ed Lucas", "Liquid Smoke, The Don Arranow story, a slate of Movies of the Week and the television situational comedy "Infidelities". Jim has written, produced, and directed numerous independent films including the award winning feature film "Murder Eleven" released in 2013, "Riverguard" a courtroom drama due out in 2015, "Massacre on Aisle 12" due out in 2016, and a pilot one hour police drama, "Decoy".

Independently of Sunrise, Jim has several projects in development. "I Want John Runn", "Do No Evil" and "A Good Man" are feature films written by Jim along with several Television series and a reality based law enforcement show, "Jumpouts" created, hosted and produced by Jim is set to be released in 2015. In addition to writing and directing Jim also has an extensive back ground in Law enforcement with 18 years experience as a decorated police officer.


Miles Fineburg joined Sunrise Pictures in 2012. Working closely with the Sunrise Executive team, he assists in various duties from office management, development and production. An aspiring filmmaker, Miles has worked in production on a range of projects including AFI student films, commercials for Radio Shack and Porsche, photo shoots and the feature film, THE DOUBLE, starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace.

He holds a Bachelor degree in Film from Vassar College.


Lindsay has worked as both a personal assistant for high profiled celebrities and as an Executive Assistant to CEO's at some of the top entertainment companies throughout Los Angeles for over ten years, including the multi-award winning production company Magical Elves. As the Production Office Manager for Sunrise Pictures, Lindsay is responsible for the day-to-day operations at both Sunrise and its genre label, Terror Films.
